The DC Streetcar Showcase is on. DDOT has one of its streetcar vehicles open to the public from now until Saturday.

Of course I went and took pictures. See the slideshow below, or visit flickr for the whole set.

The streetcar is very open inside. Very airy. It is a little short on seats, but there’s a ton of open aisle space for standing and (if DDOT allows them) bikes. It should be very quick to board. It dwarfs the buses parked nearby, making it very clear that this is something entirely different.

Can’t wait to see these things rolling on city streets.
